Description:
Research presentations are most effective and most memorable when they do two things at once: tell the story of the research and engage the audience by helping them to understand why this should be of any interest to them. It is this second point that we most often neglect or misjudge in our research presentations – whether through nerves, lack of preparation, or bad presenting technique. But if we lose that connection with our audience, we will not achieve the impact our research deserves.
Target audience: Research staff
- Open to any member of research staff who can demonstrate that their primary responsibility is to conduct research and that they are employed for this purpose.
- It does not matter whether the University or some other body is formally their employer, e.g. a University Partner Institute or a College.
Duration: One full day session
Aims:
- to have refreshed your knowledge of how to put together a good presentation
- to have practised presenting and received feedback
- to have had the chance to watch video of yourself presenting
