Description:
The Staff Review and Development process provides the opportunity for supervisors, managers and academics to engage in constructive discussion with their staff or academic colleagues about current and future work and their personal and career development.
This course will focus on an overview of the process, practical advice and useful reminders of good practice.
The course consists of two parts:
Part 1: working through a handout (Word document) in your own time (to be returned by two days before the webinar)
Part 2: attending a webinar (online seminar) at the date and time listed below
Target audience: University staff who will be reviewing others
Duration:
- Self guided learning time: approximately 1-2 hours (to be completed and returned by two days before the date of the webinar)
- Webinar: one session of one hour
Format: Online materials and webinar
Aims:
- to understand the nature of review and its objectives
- to be able to prepare for and structure a review meeting
- to consider how to identify appropriate work and development objectives
- to have considered how to apply a range of appropriate skills
Notes:
- Please note, if you complete this course it is not necessary to attend the Staff Review and Development for Reviewees course or the Staff Review and Development for Reviewers face to face session as well, as they cover the same material.
