09:30	Web Authoring: HTML - For Beginners (Level 1) (1 of 2) Finished 09:30 - 13:00 University Information Services, Roger Needham Building, Ely Training Room 1 This is a practical-based course for people new to writing Web pages. Only the basics of HTML (hypertext mark-up language) will be covered, but there are other courses for those wishing to extend their knowledge. The course teaches how to write HTML from scratch using a basic Text Editor and focuses on content and structure as opposed to style. By the end of the course participants will have created three personal linked web pages and had the opportunity to publish these using DS-Web.

10:00	Introduction to Research Integrity at Cambridge Finished 10:00 - 12:00 17 Mill Lane, Seminar Room E This course will be delivered by the University’s Research Governance and Integrity Officer and will introduce researchers to research integrity and ethics at Cambridge. The course will: explore the issue of research misconduct in academia and facilitate discussion of why and how it occurs explain the recent research integrity agenda and examine how this effects researchers discuss some of the challenges to the integrity of research and ask what individuals, groups and institutions can do to tackle them introduce the University’s research ethics system use case studies and discussion exercises to examine key issues

13:00	Chemistry: Careers Programme: (CP16) Teaching in Higher Education (UK and USA) (1L) Finished 13:00 - 14:00 Department of Chemistry, Unilever Lecture Theatre Dr Deborah Longbottom Session Summary: In this session, Deborah will outline the opportunities that exist in both the US and the UK respectively for university jobs that are teaching-focused. She will highlight the differences which exist between the countries and explain how to prepare and apply for these positions. Speaker Biography: Deborah Longbottom has been a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Chemistry for several years and has recently taken on the post of Head of Graduate Education. She was previously a Senior Research Associate in the group of Steven V. Ley, which followed post-doctoral studies with K. C. Nicolaou at The Scripps Research Institute, San Diego, California and experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Deborah currently lectures courses in the Department to first and final year students ('Reactions and Mechanisms in Organic Chemistry’ and 'Medicinal Chemistry' respectively) and is involved in many aspects of outreach work. Her research interests have encompassed both natural product synthesis and method development and most recently, a fruitful research collaboration with the O'Reilly group at Warwick University has led to interesting investigations on the synthesis and utility of polymers functionalized with organocatalytic species.

At intermediate 2 level the focus shifts slightly towards reading and writing whilst still offering plenty an opportunity for oral communication. The syllabus is more topical and the contents feature many a cultural, historical, political and current affairs theme. 	Security: Ethical Hacking - Introduction for IT Supporters (1 of 5) Finished 10:00 - 12:00 University Information Services, Roger Needham Building, Norwich Auditorium This course will take IT Supporters on a tour of some of the tools and techniques available to the attacker/pentester. It will begin with the information-gathering phase of an attack methodology, a lot of the tools will be passive and will include contemporary resources like SHODAN. We will build up a picture of the target and will use the information from the first phase to penetrate the target network. Candidates will play an attacker against our target bank/university/organisation, and we'll do everything from dumpster diving to playing with metasploit.

Mukund S. Chorghade, Ph.D: Biography Dr. Mukund Chorghade is President of Chorghade Enterprises and Chief Scientific Officer, THINQ Pharma/THINQ Discovery, AGN Biofuels and Empiriko. He is also an adjunct research professor at Northeastern University and has appointments at Harvard and MIT. He provides synthetic chemistry and development expertise to pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies. He also provides consultations on collaborations with academic, government and industrial laboratories. He advises technology based companies on process re-engineering and project management of technology transfer; establishes strategic partnerships and conducts cGLP/cGMP compliance training and implementation in chemical laboratories. He oversees projects in medicinal chemistry, chemical route selection, manufacturing and formulation of bulk actives to finished dosage forms. Dr. Chorghade earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Poona, and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Georgetown University. He completed postdoctoral appointments at the University of Virginia and Harvard University, visiting scientist appointments at University of British Columbia, College de France/Universite' Louis Pasteur, Cambridge and Caltech and directed research groups at Dow Chemicals, Abbott Laboratories, CytoMed and Genzyme. A recipient of three "Scientist of the Year Awards", he is an elected Fellow of the ACS, AAAS and RSC and has been a featured speaker in several national and international symposia. He is active in ACS, AAAS, RSC, was NESACS and Brazosport Section Chair and serves on numerous professional Scientific Advisory Boards and Committees.

They are suitable for learners comfortable in spoken interaction at level C1 upwards. Typical session topics include news events or social/political/cultural issues. The groups thrive on diversity and everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and opinions at the same time as learning techniques for getting their ideas across, becoming clearer and more verbally precise. 	JTC: German Conversation Hours (6 of 6) Finished 13:00 - 14:00 Language Centre, Teaching Room 3 This conversation hour offers learners with an independent conversational ability (B2/C1 level upwards) a chance to practice speaking German with others in a relaxed and informal group led by a native-speaker facilitator. The content of the sessions is decided by the participants, with members taking turns to propose a topic and source materials (newspaper articles, web links, video etc.) to use as a basis for discussion. The groups are ideal for those who wish to retain or improve upon the language skills they already have or for those studying for a language degree who would like another forum for low-pressure, informal practice. This is also a great follow-up activity for CULP German learners and can be repeated year after year. Participants from German Advanced CULP are warmly invited to attend the German Conversation Hour. 	CULP: Academic Reading in German for Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Researchers (Intermediate 1) (7 of 7) Finished 15:00 - 16:30 Language Centre, Teaching Room 3 This weekly class is intended to help research students in the Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences to develop their skills in reading German documents they need to deal with in their research. Each session will be divided into two parts: The first part will consist of grammar, tasks to develop insight into the reading process, help with dealing with complex sentence structures, academic conventions, abbreviations, etc. The second part will be devoted to the translation of original German texts from different periods and covering a range of topics. Each week you will be asked to attempt a translation into English of a German passage. Students will be encouraged to bring along German texts from their own research to translate.
