Bioinformatics: An Introduction to Solving Biological Problems with PERL

This course is aimed at those new to programming and provides an introduction to programming using Perl. By the end of this course, attendees should be able to write simple Perl programs and to understand more complex Perl programs written by others. The course will be taught using the online Learning Perl materials created by Sofia Robb of the University of California Riverside. Further information is available.

• No prior programming experience is required
• Those attending should be able to use a plain text editor
• The course will be delivered in a UNIX environment. A very basic knowledge of UNIX would be an advantage. Nothing will be assumed, extremely little will be required. Several, more than sufficient, on-line primers are suggested in the main Course Description page.
