The Digital Presence Programme is a five year programme responsible for improving how we provide and support websites and intranets for the University of Cambridge (amongst other things). It's important that departmental and institutional heads are aware of the programme's goals and intentions to make significant changes to the University's digital landscape.

This presentation will offer you an opportunity to feed into the programme, and provide answers to your questions about it.

The Digital Presence Programme has been busy since 2020 exploring and researching how we could better build and support the University's intranets and websites. Join us for a day of demonstrations and hands-on workshops where we'll share with you our progress so far and help you to prepare for migration to the Intranet in a Box and Website in a Box templates, due for release in 2024.

We'll share;

  • programme objectives and the roadmap
  • intranet in a box progress and demonstration
  • website in a box research, progress and demonstration
  • interim guidance and expert led workshops

Join us in person at The Triangle Building, Cambridge University Press & Assessment's spectacular headquarters near Cambridge Train Station.

Refreshments will be available.

Find out how the Digital Presence Programme's work around metadata and related concepts to improve the University's websites and digital content.

This work includes the 'Intranet in a Box' project, which aims to provision University institutions or departments with SharePoint sites that will provide common tooling and templating to improve defragmentation across the University.

Data, including managing common data and improving our approach to information architecture, is crucial for this project and other University systems.

This event is hosted by a panel of experts on the Intranet in a Box project. We aim to provide a forum for technical staff to learn about the project's framework for managing domain-level and institution-level data, and how it relates to the greater information architecture of University systems. Katya Samoylova from the Academic and Financial Planning and Analysis team (AFPA, Finance Division) will also provide an overview of their work around data governance.

Topics

  • Technical capability for SharePoint data management
  • Domain-level changes, including a summary of advice we're providing to content editors
  • Institution-level changes
  • Information architecture across University systems

This event is aimed at IT and technical staff who are already familiar with metadata, taxonomies and related concepts. If you are not already aware of these concepts and what they are used for, you may find the related event useful: Content Community event - Metadata for content editors.

A recording of this event will be available on the Content Community SharePoint site for anyone who cannot attend.

Mental Health Day is an opportunity for all of us to raise awareness of mental health issues and advocate against social stigma.

As part of UIS' Wellbeing initiative, Zara Sheldrake will present a Staff Seminar on wellbeing in the workplace. She'll explain key facts and theories around mental health, the added challenges of Covid-19 and how to look out for signs and symptoms of stress within ourselves and our colleagues, providing practical tips and advice to help you and those around you.

As part of the UIS Wellbeing initiative, we are very pleased to invite Hisham Ziauddeen a Clinical Senior Research Associate in the Department of Psychiatry and the University’s Wellbeing and Disability Champion to deliver a talk on 'Optimising Brain Functioning'. He is a consultant psychiatrist working in early intervention in psychosis.

He will talk about how we model our minds and how we manage the cost of mental functioning. He will particularly discuss the impact of work and other stress and the phenomenon of burnout. These are complex problems that have got even more complex with COVID-19 and they don’t have simple solutions but there are some ways we can ease them.

The 4 March is University Mental Health Day which aims to bring together the university community to make mental health a university-wide priority and create ongoing year round change to the future of our mental health. Now more than ever it's important to get the nation talking about our mental health.

Both staff and students are welcome to join the live event.
