Oracle Academy: Java Fundamentals & Programming Induction to the Online Environment

Description

This course is an induction to the Oracle online environment for the Oracle Academy: Java Fundamentals and Java Programming (Online) course. It provides a session of familiarisation for those who are new to this environment.

If you wish to attend this induction session please make a booking as well as booking onto the Oracle Academy: Java Fundamentals and Java Programming (Online) course so that you will have access to the online environment during and after the induction session.

This induction session is free, there is a compulsory charge for access to the Oracle Academy: Java Fundamentals and Java Programming (Online) course which will be requested at the time of booking on that course as follows

  • £100 for University departments
  • £100 + VAT = £120 for colleges and private payments from University members

If you are already familiar with the online environment and would just like access to the online course please directly book onto the Oracle Academy: Java Fundamentals and Java Programming (Online) course. Should you need to discuss this with us first, please contact training services.

System requirements

What is needed to access Oracle iLearning:

  • a. Internet Explorer 6 or higher (IE6) with Java enabled – Javascript must be enabled (the default setting for IE)
  • b. Latest version of Adobe Flash Player
  • c. Latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • d. Browser settings
    • i. Caching Option turned off (for Microsoft users only)
    • ii. Cookies must be enabled
    • iii. Pop-ups must be allowed - not blocked

Further instructions to set up your computer are included online in the course materials under Section 0 - Course Resources where you will find instructions to download and install the following software:

  • 1. Java Development Kit (JDK)
  • 2. Greenfoot
  • 3. Alice 3
  • 4. Eclipse
Charging
  • This induction session is free, there is a compulsory charge for access to the Oracle Academy: Java Fundamentals & Java Programming (Online) courses during and after the induction session. This which will be requested at the time of booking on that course as follows:
  • £100 for University departments
  • £100 + VAT = £120 for colleges and private payments from University members
  • If you also complete the Java Programming course there is an eternal exam fee for those who wish to take it
