Induction Day for new IT Staff
This day-long session introduces how IT works in the University of Cambridge, its idiosyncrasies and governance, what is expected of an IT professional working within the collegiate university and what resources are available for them. It covers IT specific material and does not duplicate the PPD Introductory Conference. The programme for the day is:
- 9:30-9:50 Registration
- 9:50-10:00 Welcome and notices — Paul Mazumdar (Institution Strategy)
- 10:00-10:20 The structure of the University — Martin Bellamy (Director, University Information Services)
- 10:20-10:50 IT within the University — Ronald Haynes (Institution Strategy)
- 10:50-11:20 Coffee
- 11:20-12:00 The user — Ruth Charles (User Administration Manager)
- 12:00-12:40 The network — Jon Holgate (Head of Network Division)
- 12:40-14:00 Lunch — representatives from various service groups will be milling around to talk to
- 14:00-14:40 University-wide systems and the Service Catalogue — Andrew Cox (Head of Student Systems)
- 14:40-15:20 Your responsibilities — Ashley Culver (Network Support Manager and CamCERT lead)
- 15:20-15:40 Coffee
- 15:40-16:20 Support and services — Marcel ten Wolde (Service Desk)
