Falcon: An Introduction

This course will cover the admin and user interface for the Falcon Content Management Service.

Please note: The course is regularly oversubscribed, if this should be the case participants will be paired up and informed on the day.

People interested in running a Falcon site

Prospective participants should be either a user or administrator involved in a current or future Falcon site, or have a strong interest in Falcon. It would be useful to have some expereince of HTML

• A look at the default site
• Learning to add simple content
• Configuring your site’s look and feel
• Adding news, events and jobs
• Your home page and working with portlets
• Adding more complex content to pages
• Adding other content to your site – a research directory, discussion forums and forms
• Adding users and groups, and restricting access to content
• What metadata is and how to add it
• Collections – what they are and how you can use them
• Looking at the ‘back end’ of Falcon
• Other admin functions
