An Elderly Person in your life! An opportunity for individuals to explore positive approaches to preparing for and responding to the unexpected changes & challenges that occur as they include the increasing needs of an elderly person into your lifestyle. This includes those elderly people who are independent as well as those with specific needs.

Workshops to help you prepare Participants prepare for the future and respond to current challenges through informal networking and input from our experienced facilitators. The materials are delivered over 3 x 1-hour sessions:

• Prepared to Care
• Difficult Conversations
• Problem Solving

All participants receive a pack with key information to improve their links to the elderly person.

Focus on you and your wellbeing Caring4Elders participants confirm the value of time to reflect on their approach to incorporating the practical and emotional changes that occur as an elderly person becomes less independent. Participants have all asked for more time to continue the network at the end of the workshops which have been offered in the East of England since 2017

The Institute of Astronomy is hosting “Dignity and Respect at Work” workshops for ALL staff as part of the University wide E&D policy and training programme.

To be held in the Sackler Lecture Theatre in the Hoyle Building

This session will give an overview of recruitment best practice and how to attract a more diverse range of applicants.

We will look at how to write an advert, further information documents, shortlisting and interview processes.

There will be discussion around best practice in inclusive induction and probation processes.

Flexible working gives employees flexibility on where and when they work, allowing them to balance home and career. A panel of managers from the Clinical School will provide insight into their experience of supporting staff who work flexibly and the benefits and challenges such arrangements can bring.

Menopause Café

At a Menopause Café people gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss menopause.

The objective is to increase awareness of the impact of the menopause on those experiencing it, their friends, colleagues and families, so that we can make conscious choices about this third stage of life.

A Menopause Cafe is a group directed discussion of menopause with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a support or counselling session. We may split into small groups and you are welcome to just listen, although we hope you will join in on discussions.

Our Menopause Cafés are offered:

• On a not for profit basis
• In an accessible, respectful and confidential space
• With no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action
• Alongside refreshments!

Who is it for? Anybody interested in sharing their stories, experiences and questions about menopause. All genders and all ages. Men and women and inbetween. Old and young and inbetween.

A one hour walk around the wild grounds of Madingley Hall led by Head Gardener Richard Gant.

The international system is shifting from being unipolar to multipolar, just as the consequences of globalisation are creating huge inequalities within and between nations, and the prospect of interstate conflict rises. Two key outcomes have been the rise of populist leaders adept at using social media, and a re-emphasis on national rather than international values.

This course taster will look at the changing tensions within the global system as individual states move to reassert sovereignty (such as Brexit) and heighten prosperity (such as America First and China's Belt and Road initiative), even as the world faces the huge challenge of climate change and the need for significant cooperation if the earth as we know it is to be saved.
