Have you experienced knocking knees, a dry throat or churning stomach before an important meeting? What do your thoughts have to do with your success? Can you really control the internal butterflies?

Research is providing us with increasing evidence that our thoughts affect our feelings, behaviour and our achievements. The concept of confidence is often misunderstood; usually it’s only when we don’t have it that confidence comes to our attention. This workshop will encourage you to explore what creates confidence, the beliefs and behaviours that support and detract from your confidence and how to find that essential boost when you need it most.

Counselling Service: Mindfulness Workshop (1 of 2) Finished 09:30 - 12:30 Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Centre, Merton Hall Farmhouse

Mindfulness helps us become conscious of the intricacies of all that is happening both within us (physical sensations, thoughts, emotions etc.) and outside of us (smell, sound, sight etc.) in any given moment. It is a way of being with our self and the world, which brings us into direct contact with our present moment experiencing. Research has shown that it can have a positive effect on our physical and mental wellbeing.

An individual discipline of specific mindful practices need to be established to develop a more mindful way of being. This includes mindful meditation, mindful movement and mindful attending to the body.

This linked pair of workshops will help you to start and develop these practices. Focus will mostly be on the doing but there will also be opportunity to explore some of the concepts of mindfulness.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring something to lie on.

Immigration Lunch & Learn: The Resident Labour Market Test Finished 13:45 - 15:15 University Centre, Cormack Room

The Resident Labour Market Test (RLMT) is a key area within the recruitment of Sponsored Workers (Tier 2). Getting it wrong can cause significant delays to the recruitment process and is frustrating both for the recruiter and the candidate selected for the role. Failure to meet the RLMT where required is a breach of our sponsor duties, which could lead to our licence being downgraded or removed.

This event aims to demystify the requirements of the RLMT so that we get it right first time and avoid unnecessary setbacks. The Lunch and Learn is a focused face to face session.
