Heather White has created a unique approach which will help you connect more easily with people inside and outside the University; it will also enable you to refine your activities and be more productive. The lecture is an opportunity to hear Dame Anne Begg discuss her view on the challenges to disabled people in 2013. Dame Anne Begg is a British Labour Party politician, who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Aberdeen South since 1997. She was the first full-time user of a wheelchair elected to the House of Commons. She made her maiden speech on 21 May 1997 and she is now Chair of the Work and Pensions Select Committee.

There will be a drinks reception to follow the lecture.

The venue is wheelchair accessible and a BSL interpreter will be present.

  • Hosted by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Affairs, Professor Jeremy Sanders, this forum will address some of the common misconceptions surrounding the Senior Academic Promotions (SAP) procedure.
  • Anyone interested in participating in the Senior Academic Promotions may find this event helpful in planning an application.

The Secondment Development Initiative is aimed at supporting administrators who are interested in undertaking an internal secondment to develop their skills, progress their careers or take on a new challenge. The Staff Development Initiative also aims to support departments wishing to offer secondment opportunities with an administrative focus.

The following will be covered at the briefing:

  • the benefits of secondments in supporting an individual’s career progression, specifically the potential to bridge identified gaps in skills, attributes and experience
  • the benefits for the University of using secondments as a ‘development’ opportunity
  • an overview of the Secondment Development Initiative, including the support that PPD will offer to departments offering secondments and to individuals in seeking out and applying for a secondment
  • signposting to related processes eg Staff Review and Development and Career Pathways

  • Hosted by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Affairs, Professor Jeremy Sanders, this session will provide an overview of the Senior Academic Promotions (SAP) procedure, including the main changes to the process introduced in the last two years, highlight the SAP CV Scheme and will address some of the common misconceptions surrounding SAP. The forum, aimed at Academic Staff interested in participating in the Senior Academic Promotions process, will also include the opportunity for questions and discussion and will be helpful for planning applications.
