Description

This course is intended for non-native speakers who wish to improve their skills in giving presentations in English.

Target audience
  • Non-Native Postdocs, PhD and MPhil by Research students from the Department of Engineering ONLY
  • Further details regarding Engineering Language Unit's eligibility criteria are available
Prerequisites
  • Participants must be Non-native speakers
Topics covered
  • Common areas of difficulty for non-native speakers
  • Pronunciation, particularly focusing on field specific terms
  • Vocabulary for effective presentations
  • Cultural differences in presentation styles
  • The language of question and answer sessions and seminars
Aims

To provide opportunities for you to practise the language needed to give effective presentations in English. The course will help you to build your confidence by providing opportunities for you to give short presentations to the rest of the group.
