The session will look at more advanced formulas and macros using the recorder and VBA tools.

The formulas covered in this course include SUMIF and COUNTIF which will allow the user to quickly summarise data.

Macros will enable the user to automate tasks within excel. During this session, we will use the example of needing to analyse, sort, split and send data to specific email contacts. Users will be introduced to a series of macros to reduce this process to a few simple steps.

The session will run on Teams and delegates must be able to access Excel during the session

The course is designed to give attendees the necessary skills to carry out risk assessments.

Recent technological advances have made it possible to obtain genome-wide transcriptome data from single cells using high-throughput sequencing (scRNA-seq). Even though scRNA-seq makes it possible to address problems that are intractable with bulk RNA-seq data, analysing scRNA-seq is also more challenging.

In this course we will be surveying the existing problems as well as the available computational and statistical frameworks available for the analysis of scRNA-seq.

This conversation hour offers learners with an independent conversational ability (B2 level upwards) a chance to practise speaking French with others in a relaxed and informal group led by a native-speaker facilitator. The content of the sessions is decided by the participants, with members taking turns to propose a topic and source materials (newspaper articles, web-links, videos etc.) to use as a basis for discussion. The groups are ideal for those who wish to retain or improve upon the language skills they already have or for those studying for a language degree who would like another forum for interaction at advanced level.

Diversity is a proven catalyst for innovation. However, creating inclusive environments to harness the power of diversity takes preparation. We can be aware or unaware of it, but we are all biased towards people who are different from us. This interactive session will explore where bias come from, what different types of bias can we talk about, and the various forms of diversity. You will gain a deeper understanding of the impact of bias on our daily interactions and decision-making. Additionally, you will learn effective strategies to counteract potential biases.

The University’s one-year Rights Retention pilot has taught the library a great deal about the practicalities of supporting self-archiving through rights retention. In a meeting in November 2022, the Research Policy Committee considered the findings from the pilot so far and endorsed the development of a self-archiving policy for researchers. This course is designed for learners who have very limited or no previous knowledge of British Sign Language (BSL). The course aims to enable individuals to understand and use BSL effectively for purposes of practical communication with deaf or hard of hearing people, to develop understanding of the BSL sentence syntax and to learn more about a Deaf Culture.

Please note this course is not credit-bearing and so cannot be used as part of a Tripos.

With effect from August 2022 CULP Advanced level students will be included in the population for the HESA student return. We obtain much of the information required via the annual student registration exercise. CULP students, who are not currently following another course of study, will receive an email inviting them to complete Registration. This intensive Persian course is designed particularly for researchers, graduate students and staff who have a particular interest in Persian language, culture and heritage. However the course can be equally useful for those who are interested in learning Persian for more general purposes.

We offer linguistic tools that will enable students to comprehend complex texts and produce spoken and written language on variety of topics.

The classes are going to be conducted more or less in English, even though there will be plenty of opportunity for speaking and listening practice in Persian. And the medium of class will swiftly change to Persian by the end of the term. The courses feature a listening and speaking component as to prepare student to conduct field work in Persian and/or communicate in Persian with native speakers.
