Description

This is a practical-based course for people new to writing Web pages. Only the basics of HTML (hypertext mark-up language) will be covered, and is suitable for those who have to edit a content management system (CMS) to update web pages. The course teaches how to write HTML from scratch using a basic Text Editor and focuses on content and structure as opposed to style. By the end of the course you will have created three personal linked web pages and had the opportunity to publish these using DS-Web.

Target audience
  • Careers Service staff only
Prerequisites

The course is suitable for anyone who is familiar with at least one Web browser e.g. Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox etc. There is no need for previous knowledge of HTML, this course is for beginners.

  • Uploading your personal web pages to DS-Web
Notes
  • Tea, coffee and bisuits are provided.
  • The practical work will be done on PCs although the course is platform independent and therefore suitable also for Mac and Linux users.
  • If you would like to take away a copy of the Web page you create, please bring a USB memory stick. If you can logon to your MCS account, you will have an opportunity to set up your Web pages using DS-Web on that account.
