Description

An introduction to purchasing within the University, providing details of the University's procurement process.

The course includes an overview of relevant legislation and best-practice.

Note - this course does not cover how to use the University's iProcurement system - if you require an iProcurement responsibility you must take either the online iProcurement Requisitioner or iProcurement Buyer training (depending on your proposed responsibility) or come to one of our classrom-based iProcurement courses.

This course is a pre-requisite for other procurement courses (except for iProcurement).

Target audience

People in a purchasing role who need details on the University's procurement process.

Objectives

The user will:

* Understand the importance of Good purchasing practice to the University.
* Understand what Good purchasing practice is.
* Be familiar with the University’s purchasing process.
* Be aware of the legal framework the University operates within with regard to procurement.
* Understand the Ethical framework the University requires all procurement activities to conform with.

Aims

Provide users with an overview of good purchasing practice within the University and allow users to apply that understanding in their day-to-day business.
