Description

This training is aimed at users who already run one or more social media accounts and are looking to develop their strategic approach. We will consider and discuss your current goals and audiences for social media and assess the current performance of your social media channels. We will look at gaps and share ideas around tactics to grow your reach and engage your followers.

The course will be delivered by Anu Hautalampi, a communications specialist with a focus on social media. Anu was the first Head of Social Media and AV for the University of Cambridge and created the University’s social media strategy. She currently leads on social media for UN Women globally.

Prerequisites

Participants must have already attended the course Introduction to Social Media Engagement this year (https://training.cam.ac.uk/event/4014781) or in the past years.

As a result of this training you will be able to:

  • evaluate your social media activity more critically
  • prioritise your content and audiences

Good internet connection: the course will be held in Zoom.

Request for participants: preparation for the course

For you to make the most of this training, please audit your social media channels ahead of the session. Create a brief report on your findings and include any insights or questions you would like us to discuss in the session. Prepare to present (max 5min). Please share your report and/or presentation at least 7 working days before the session (send it via e-mail to gb498@medschl.cam.ac.uk).

Things to include in your audit (pick as many as you can):

  • which social media channels are you managing/working with? (include screenshots of bios)
  • number of followers on each channel and any demographic information you can get (age, location, interests...)
  • 3 examples of your strategically most important posts and how they performed (number of shares, click-throughs/link clicks, video views and view duration, number of likes and other reactions – always include number of impressions)
  • top 5 posts with most shares in the past month, quarter and year (also include number of impressions for each)
  • top 5 posts with most likes/reactions the past month, quarter and year (also include number of impressions for each)
  • who shared and liked the posts (check the bios/profiles of 5-10 people to get a snapshot of your active followers)
