Thu 11
HRTP: Advocates Network Launch Meeting (In Person Face to Face) Finished 13:30 - 15:30 Student Services Centre, New Wing Seminar Room

Join Andi Hudson, Director of the HR Division, and Professor Kamal Munir, PVC for Community and Engagement, at the first (in person) event for the new HR Transformation Programme Advocates network. The session will introduce you to changes that are on the horizon for us all this year and next as we head towards the new HR and Payroll system, myHR, going live in the summer of 2024. Work is already well underway with colleagues to streamline processes and build the new system that will give us direct access to our own HR data and, for those with management responsibility, relevant information to support their teams.

As an Advocate, your contribution will be vital to raise awareness of the programme and myHR and to help manage the change within your area. The meeting will cover how we will help you to do this and to work with others in the network to learn more about your role as an Advocate. It will be a great opportunity to find out more about where the programme is up to and to make plans about how we will work together to engage more widely with our colleagues.

Visit HR Transformation Programme to read more about the aims of the programme and Advocate network if you are not yet a member of the network.

  • We hope that you will be able to join us at this launch event. If you are not able to attend in person, there is an alternative online version (with recorded content from Andi and Kamal) at HRTP: Advocates Network Meeting (Live Online).
  • Please Note: Once you have booked, on your booking confirmation page, you can click on Add to Calendar to start the process to import the course appointment into your calendar.

Wed 14
Supporting People Through Change (Live Online) new Finished 11:00 - 12:30 HRTP MS Teams 01

During change we often focus on what will be delivered and if it will be right for the job, but we often focus less on the need to support, reassure, and motivate those impacted by change – the people side of change.

This short session for staff with people-management responsibilities (including PIs, supervisors and team leads) will explore approaches to the people side of change in the context of the University. Whilst high-level sponsorship provides senior leadership and the rationale for change, research shows that direct line managers have the most influence on how their team respond to change by helping to support people in understanding, preparing for, and adopting changes in working life and practice. “Change happens one person at a time.” Prosci.com.

Using the HR Transformation Programme and the introduction of myHR as an example, we will look at how the approaches we are using to support colleagues across the University can be applied to the changes you may be leading in your team or area.

Join us to consider skills and techniques for supporting people through change, using consistent language to help build our individual and collective change capability, for the everyday changes and for the more significant ones.

Please Note: Once you have booked on the course, click on Add to Calendar to start the process to import the course appointment into your calendar. This contains the link to the MS Teams course meeting under Joining Instructions that you will use to join on the day of the course.

Tue 11
Forming the Leadership and Management Community of Practice new Finished 12:00 - 13:00 HRTP MS Teams 01

The rapid (and exciting) growth of the Leaders and Managers Network (well over 700 self-subscribed members on the mailing list) highlights the need for increased capacity to support you and others in this most critical, influential, stimulating, rewarding and ‘not without its challenges’ role. There are over 2500 'formal' line managers across all staff groups, plus many more who informally support the work, behaviour and development of others.

Currently, members of the network can access:

  • A regular post of news, articles, resources and development opportunities in this area
  • A monthly drop-in meeting to meet with others who also have people-related responsibilities as part of their role
  • Occasional events aimed at LMN members, such as An Introduction to the HR Transformation Programme, Meet the Investigations Team and Supporting Disability Inclusion.

We are looking to ADD to this existing offering by expanding to create a Leadership and Management Community of Practice. For those who want it, I hope that this will bring more opportunities to interact with each other (in real time and asynchronously via Teams and area-specific Channels) and the chance to share all the excellent practice, ideas, experience, skills and knowledge that we have in the network.

If you would like to find out more and/or be part of the design, planning and implementation of the new L&M CoP, please join us at this meeting on Tuesday 11 July, midday to 1pm, or get in touch if you can’t make that time.

Please Note: Once you have booked on the course, click on 'Add to Calendar' to start the process to import the course appointment into your calendar. This contains the 'link to the MS Teams course meeting under Joining Instructions' that you will use to join on the day of the course.
