Accountants' Update CPD session Fri 24 May 2024   14:00 Finished

Our annual CPD update session is making a return. Our external auditors, PwC will deliver a presentation on general accounting and auditing updates, then Stephen Peacock (Head of Group Financial Reporting) will provide a University specific update.

Qualified staff can use this towards their annual CPD.

This session is for staff who will be acting as Concur key contacts and/or will be part of the Finance Team who will be second approving expense claims. The session will include an end to end demo of the process of submitting and approving a claim, including:

  • Profile settings
  • Creating and submitting a claim
  • First approving
  • Acting as a second approver
  • Changing approval flows
  • Credit cards
  • Using the mobile app

This session will not be suitable for claimants or first approvers, there are training materials available on the Expenses Hub for these roles. Please see the Expenses Hub website

Concur visitors - Department briefing workshop new Fri 1 Mar 2024   10:00 Finished

This session is intended for the finance teams in departments who will involved with setting up visitors and processing claims in Concur. It will explain the process of onboarding a visitor through to creation, submission and approval of the claims. There are many similarities with the staff expenses process in Concur but there are some key differences which will be highlighted during the session.

This is a classroom version of the Cognos Introduction held at Greenwich House - All delegates will need to bring a laptop (docking stations, monitors, external keyboard and mice will be available in the room)

Please note - there is no parking available at Greenwich House. The Madingley Park and Ride is a 15 minute walk and the Universal Bus stops on Madingley Road.

Cognos is a reporting tool that utilises data from CUFS to provide users with additional reports and options. This introductory course is designed for new reporters - covering everything from running a report successfully as well as a number of useful tips and shortcuts.

Note: This course is mandatory in order to attend either of the following two courses below.

What this introductory course does not do is go through in detail the outputs of each individual report. Report outputs are explained in further detail in the courses above.

Cannot make any dates? See the on-demand online version of the course. Completion of this course will count as Cognos attendance for the purpose of acceptance onto the above courses. You should ask your Key Contact to request Cognos access for you, prior to working through the on-demand material.

This is a classroom course held at Greenwich House - All delegates will need to bring a laptop. There are 8 docking stations with monitors, external keyboard and mice available in the room. These will be allocated on a first come first served basis, anybody else accepted will need to work solely on their laptop

This course provides an overview of the use of Microsoft SharePoint in the Finance Division to store and manage documents.

This 1-day course explores the basic building blocks and allows you to create your own Apps and understand how to develop your skills to the next level.

This in-person session will help attendees gain a better understanding of the Finance transformation project: “Enhanced Financial Transparency (EFT)”, including how it relates to other Finance transformation projects, and what it will mean for the University and staff.
