Description

This instructor-led fee based course has been commissioned by the UIS through a third party company.

You will receive hands-on instruction and practice networking Windows Server 2016 in this Microsoft Official Course.

This course is part two in a series of three courses that provides the skills and knowledge necessary to implement a core Windows Server 2016 infrastructure in an existing enterprise environment. The three courses collectively cover implementing, managing, maintaining and provisioning services and infrastructure in a Windows Server 2016 environment.

Although there is some cross-over of skills and tasks across these courses, this course primarily covers the networking tasks necessary to maintain a Windows Server 2016 infrastructure such as planning and implementing an IPv4 network, Ipv6, DHCP, DNS, Implementing and managing IPAM, remote access, DirectAccess, and VPN's in Windows Server 2016 environments.

This course maps directly to and is the preferred choice for hands-on preparation for Networking with Windows Server 2016: Exam 70-741, which is the second of three exams required for MCSA: Windows Server 2016 certification.

NOTE: Labs in this course are based on the General Availability release of Windows Server 2016.

Target audience
  • All current Cambridge University members (departments and colleges)
    • IT Professionals with hands on experience working in a Windows server 2008 or Windows Server 2012 environment who wish to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to be able to manage and maintain the core infrastructure required for a Windows Server 2016 environment
  • Windows Server Administrators experienced in working with Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012 who wish to gain skills necessary to perform daily management and maintenance tasks in a Windows Server 2016 environment

Prerequisites

Before attending this course, students must have:

  • Knowledge and skills concerning the initial implementation and configuration of core Windows Server services including Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), Networking Services and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Knowledge equivalent to course Installation, Storage and Computer with Windows Server 2016 as this course will build upon that knowledge

Cancellations

This third-party course requires a minimum number of participants in order that it can run. Should that minimum number not be reached within 25 working days of the course, the course will be cancelled and any payments returned to participants. If the minimum number is met within 25 working days and a course participant cancels within the 25 working days of the course date, the participant will be liable for 100% of the course fee. In some circumstances the participant can put forward a replacement from their institution within this time frame.

The course prepares you for the Networking with Windows Server 2016: Exam 741 which is part of the Microsoft Certified Professional MCSA: Windows Server 2016 qualification as detailed here shown under Step 3: Completion
