It will give an overview of the peer review process and help students meet their funder Open access and research data requirements. This session deliberately excludes subject-specific advice such as which journal or conferences to choose, which is more appropriately provided by supervisors. It will however highlight resources such as Sherpa/Romeo and journal impact factors that provide information that may help reach these decisions. Learn to identify the characteristics of a good report. From an accurate, concise and persuasive writing style to a well organised, well-presented layout and format. This workshop will help you understand the purpose of a report, how to plan it and how best to structure it in terms of presentation and layout. In this session, you will be introduced to the Pecha Kucha style of presenting, which has proved highly successful for PhD students talking about their research to a wider audience. If you are prepared to take up the challenge, you can then sign up for an individual training session. There will be opportunities to present, using this technique at the Science Festival next March on the 17th or 24th. |
