This course is aimed at Physics staff who carry out manual handling as an integral part of their job. It is designed to provide them with the skills and knowledge needed to assess manual handling activities and use techniques to avoid injuries.

Objectives

By the end of the course, participants should be able to: • Explain what “manual handling” means • Describe how manual handling can cause injuries • Recognize good handling technique • List the principles for controlling manual handling risk • Apply these principles to a practical situation
