Open meeting on investments in, and research funded by, defence companies new Finished 10:00 - 12:00 New Museums Site, Babbage Lecture Theatre

All staff and students are invited to take part in a town hall meeting on investments in and research funded by companies belonging to the defence industry.

The meeting is being organised by the working group that was set up to make recommendations to relevant University committees that oversee policies in relation to investments and research. You can read more about the background to its work, its scope, and membership in The Reporter.

The meeting will be chaired by Graham Virgo, Master of Downing College and chair of the working group. This is an opportunity to make your views heard, and will assist the working group in its consultation.

Mastercard Foundation Higher Education Climate Resilience & Sustainability Collaborative new [Places] 16:00 - 17:30 New Museums Site, Cockcroft Lecture Theatre

An open meeting about a collaborative partnership between Cambridge and four universities in Africa focused on climate resilience and sustainability in higher education.

The meeting is open to academic and professional services staff interested in the areas of capacity building, research or innovation/entrepreneurship as these relate to climate resilience, as well as to colleagues who have existing relationships with institutions in Africa.

The meeting will be led by Professor Bhaskar Vira, Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education and Environmental Sustainability) and will include a briefing about the Collaborative, and the opportunities that are available for contribution to the activities from Cambridge, as well as information about the current plans of our partner universities and ways in which Cambridge colleagues can collaborate with counterparts in Africa.

The Higher Education Climate Resilience and Sustainability Collaborative is part of the University's ongoing programme on climate resilience and sustainability in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. The Collaborative includes three African partners, in addition to the University of Cambridge: the University of Ghana (Accra, Ghana), Makerere University (Kampala, Uganda) and the University of Cape Town (Cape Town, South Africa).
