Prerequisites


Description

This follows on from the Web Authoring: HTML Introduction (Level 1) and is a practical-based course.

Target audience
  • All current University members (departments and colleges)
  • Further details regarding eligibility criteria are available
Prerequisites

It is essential that those attending are familiar with the basics of using HTML as covered on the Web Authoring: HTML Introduction (Level 1)

Topics covered
  • Revision of basic tags
  • Use of attributes in tags
  • Use of colour
  • Layout and typographical control using cascading style sheets
  • Graphics
  • Links to other web pages and to image, sound and movie files
  • Production and use of PDFs (Portable Document Format files)
Format

Presentations, demonstrations and practicals.

Taught using

Internet Explorer and Firefox on MCS Windows

Notes
  • The practical work will be done on PCs unless otherwise specified, although the course is platform independent and therefore suitable also for Mac and Unix users.
  • If you would like to take away a copy of the Web page you create, please bring a a USB memory stick. If you can logon to your MCS account, you will have an opportunity to set up your Web pages using DS-Web on that account.
  • Anyone wishing to copy the course exercise files should bring a USB memory stick they can be downloaded
