This is an introduction to the popular database package Microsoft Access. The course is aimed at those who have never used the package before or have just started using it. There is an Access Fast Track course that is a shortened version of this course for those who learn at a faster pace.

This is a fast paced and shortened version of the 2-session Access 2016: Creating a Simple Database course and thus is more suitable for those who are quick learners. This course will be taught using Access 2016 on PCs (Windows 7).

This course is intended for those already using Microsoft Access 2016 who wish to explore more advanced queries and forms. Those who have attended the Access 2016: Creating a Simple Database course will find this follows on seamlessly from where that course left off - but be prepared for a harder challenge. Part of the course explores relational database design concepts for simple databases. The remainder focuses on more advanced queries and forms. Following on from the Photoshop CC: Introduction (Level 1) course, this course covers some of the more advanced features of Adobe Photoshop CC, which is the latest version of the popular image manipulation and editing tool for graphics and design professionals and photographers. This short session will provide an understanding of the principles, tools and techniques involved in Process Analysis with a view to improving business process effectiveness and efficiency. Delegates will have the opportunity to practice using the techniques that they learn via exercises designed to be enjoyable and thought provoking.

The course refers to the methodology used in conjunction with Triaster process mapping software available to users across the University of Cambridge.

This session is provided for students who have a Disability Resource Centre referral for specialised one-to-one support. Bespoke sessions cover support for users with:

• Mobility issues, such as an upper limb disorder, where ergonomic keyboards and mice or speech recognition software may be required
• Visual impairment requirements where magnification or text scanning to alternative format can assist users to view a computer screen or read and listen to text
• Specific learning difficulties, who may find speech recognition software or mind mapping software useful

A session typically fall into 2 categories:

• Looking at available hardware, software or IT techniques that can aid in the development of tailored strategies and solutions to help users independently access computing facilities
• Providing training for Assistive Technology software packages to help users progress with the software

Learn how with Windows PowerShell 4.0, you can remotely manage multiple Windows based servers and automate day to day management and administration tasks.

The course is built on Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1 and while it is specifically focused on Windows PowerShell v4.0, is also relevant in v2.0 and v3.0 Windows PowerShell environments.

This five day course provides students with the fundamental knowledge and skills, using hands-on instruction and practice, to use Windows PowerShell 4.0 for administering and automating administration of Windows based servers. Cambridge Casual Worker System (CCWS)

This is an In Person Face to Face training session where new starters/new users can view a demonstration of the system and have the opportunity to ask questions/seek assistance on a particular task.

As this is designed for new rather than existing users, your booking will initially be provisional, until approved.

This course is an introduction to the CHRIS system and will cover an overview of key elements of the system that you will interact whilst undertaking HR tasks.

Prior to attending please check that you can log into the CHRIS system successfully.

The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) programme is open to University IT Supporters. It covers network technology, protocols and theory at deeper levels reflective of University practices. There is a fee to attend this course and an additional fee to take the CCNA (200-120) certification exam.

CCNA Routing and Switching provides a comprehensive overview of networking concepts and skills, from network applications to the protocols and services provided to those applications by the lower layers of the network, with an emphasis on practical application, work-force readiness, and soft-skills development. You will progress from basic networking to more complex enterprise and theoretical networking models later in the curriculum.

There are four modules in the recommended sequence:

• Introduction to Networks
• Routing and Switching Essentials
• Scaling Networks
• Connecting Networks

We offer this program as instructor led with online access to the curriculum with the support of interactive media and an online networks laboratory called NETLAB. There is a mix of lecture, demonstrations and a heavy emphasis on practical activities using live lab equipment and a simulation package.

Introduction to Networks is the first module of four modules in CCNA. Please book onto this first module to reserve your place for the whole programme.

This module introduces the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and computer networks. The principles of IP addressing and fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are introduced to provide a foundation for the curriculum. By the end of the course, you will be able to build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IP addressing schemes.

This course describes the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in a small network. You will learn how to configure a router and a switch for basic functionality. By the end of this course, you will be able to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches and resolve common issues with RIPv1, RIPv2, single-area and multi-area OSPF, virtual LANs, and inter-VLAN routing in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.

This is the third module of the CCNA series, should you wish to book on the series please book on Module 1 Introduction to Networks.

This course describes the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in a large and complex network. You will learn how to configure routers and switches for advanced functionality. By the end of this course, you will be able to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches and resolve common issues with OSPF, EIGRP, STP, and VTP in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. You will also develop the knowledge and skills needed to implement DHCP and DNS operations in a network.

This course discusses the WAN technologies and network services required by converged applications in a complex network. The course enables you to understand the selection criteria of network devices and WAN technologies to meet network requirements. You will learn how to configure and troubleshoot network devices and resolve common issues with data link protocols. You also develop the knowledge and skills needed to implement IPSec and virtual private network (VPN) operations in a complex network

CCNAv7 R&S: Introduction to Networks Prepares you for a networking career with this introduction to how networks operate. This first course in the 3-course CCNA series introduces architectures, models, protocols, and networking elements – functions needed to support the operations and priorities of Fortune 500 companies to small innovative retailers. You’ll even get the chance to build simple local area networks (LANs) yourself. You’ll have a working knowledge of IP addressing schemes, foundational network security, and be able to perform basic configurations for routers and switches. Build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes. Configure routers, switches, and end devices to provide access to local and remote network resources and to enable end-to-end connectivity between remote devices. Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills using real equipment and Cisco Packet Tracer. Configure and troubleshoot connectivity a small network using security best practices

CCNA R&S: Routing and Switching Essentials (RSE) delves further into the world of networking with the second CCNA course in a 3-course series. This course focuses on switching technologies and router operations that support small-to-medium business networks, including wireless local area networks (WLAN) and security concepts. You’ll perform basic network configuration and troubleshooting, identify and mitigate LAN security threats, and configure and secure a basic WLAN. Recommended preparation: CCNA v7: Introduction to Networks or having equivalent knowledge. CCNAv7 R&S: Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation is the third course in the 3-course CCNA series. Large enterprises depend heavily on the smooth operation of their network infrastructures. CLA: Programming Essentials in C covers the basics of programming in the C programming language for entry-level IT and software development jobs. This course covers the universal concepts of computer programming, as well as syntax and semantics of the C language, advanced data types, advanced libraries, the universal concepts of computer programming and developer tools, ability to identify code bugs and bottlenecks, programming advanced data structures, solving complex problems using data structures and algorithms.

CPA: Programming Essentials in C++ teaches the basics of programming in the C++ programming language, as well as the fundamental concepts and techniques used in object-oriented programming. CPP: Advanced Programming in C++ covers intermediate and advanced C++ programming topics for junior-level and specialist-level IT and software development jobs.
