TechLink Christmas Special Seminar: Using Technology to Unlock History - Advanced 2D/3D Digital Capture & Presentation

• Global Digital Library collaborations increasingly use advanced technologies including IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework), multispectral imaging, 3D/photogrammetry, text mining, network analysis, colour management, and local innovation to create novel equipment and techniques as needed. Many of these developments are the result of close collaboration with researchers in multiple scientific disciplines as well as in digital humanities projects.
• One of the architects of IIIF will provide some background and examples of how this international framework is enabling the expanding collection and rapid international sharing of some of the world's greatest information repositories.
• The Digital Library Unit, based at the University Library, will demonstrate and discuss how technology is providing much richer information and unlocking the histories of objects in collections at this and other Universities. Key examples will provide an overview of technologies and techniques in advanced digital image capture, and in the dissemination and surfacing of digital content.
