English Speaking Skills: Giving presentations in English
This course is intended for non-native speakers who wish to improve their skills in giving presentations in English.
- Non-native MPhil by Research and PhD students plus Postdocs from the Department of Engineering ONLY
- No other students, members of staff or visiting scholars are eligible for this course. If you are not eligible, please do not sign up, as your name will be deleted from the list without further notice. Instead, please email Nicola Cavaleri (nch23@cam.ac.uk) to enquire about possible special arrangements.

- Common areas of difficulty for non-native speakers
- Pronunciation, particularly focusing on field specific terms
- Vocabulary for effective presentations
- Cultural differences in presentation styles
- The language of question and answer sessions and seminars
To provide opportunities for you to practise the language needed to give effective presentations in English. The course will help you to build your confidence by providing opportunities for you to give short presentations to the rest of the group.
