Great St Mary's Church Tour

A guided tour around the University Church featuring its remarkable heritage and the significant role it has played in the history of the University and City of Cambridge over 800 years. This can be followed by a chance to climb the tower to see the wonderful panoramic views of Cambridge. Weather permitting .... The tower climb is 123 spiral stairs in each direction; you need a strong heart on the way up and strong knees on the way down! Not recommended if you're claustrophobic. Level access to the ground floor for wheelchair users and accessible WC. Please note: There is a charge of £5.00 to climb the Tower. Tickets can be purchased in the Gift Shop |

Start 9:30am at Lucy Cavendish with tea and coffee available to purchase in the café as well as there being complimentary water & fruit. Walk around the gardens of Lucy Cavendish, then up around the Hill, finishing up in the gardens of St Edmund’s at around 11:30am. Senior Tutors of Lucy Cavendish (Dr Jane Greatorex) and St Edmunds (Dr Judith Bunbury) and the Reverend Dr Janet Bunker will be leading the walk. Janet will be pointing out art and architectural points of interest during the walk up the “Hill”. Meeting point is at the Porters Lodge |

To be held in the Madingley Hall gardens. Come along and spend an hour learning the basic bike maintenance essentials to keep you on the road if the worst happens whilst out on a ride. Session will include wheel removal, innertube repair / replacement and wheel refitting. Handouts will be available detailing the basic minimum kit to carry with you on your bike when out and about. There will also be a basic touch on brake / gear adjustment time allowing. Wheels and bikes with varied running gear will be available on site but feel free to bring along your own bike and tools so that you can practice on the machine you’ll need to work on in your own time. No equipment / spares or maintenance will be available to take away on the day and the session is not designed to give your bike a full service while you wait. |

Come and learn what can be achieved with a minimalist toolkit and the application of basic bike repair skills. The course will be split into two halves. This session is aimed at staff / students whose role involves frequent hand washing or wearing of gloves as part of their personal protection equipment (PPE) and may be more suitable to those working in clinic and laboratory areas who are at greater risk of work-related dermatitis and /eczema. The session will discuss the different types of dermatitis, provide advice on correct handwashing technique and use of gloves, as well as steps to avoid problems from developing and the action to take in the event that problems occur. There will be an opportunity to evaluate hand washing techniques and assess skin hydration to show how this can impact upon the management of hand care. |
