Description

The Programme offers general language tuition with a focus on communicative competence.

At basic level the focus is on every day and real-time, oral/aural communication. Each course features a functional-notional syllabus and grammar points are analysed in context.

Prerequisites

This course is appropriate for students who already possess a little knowledge of the German language.

Objectives
  • To provide a basic knowledge of German language and culture.
  • To understand and to be able to use grammatical structures and vocabulary.
  • To strengthen a positive and confident attitude towards language learning
  • To be able to understand and exchange general as well as more detailed information in the target language on a range of everyday issues at a basic level.

  • To be able to greet other people, informally and formally
  • To be able to say which language(s) you speak, what your occupation is, including details of your subjects of study
  • To be able to say where you live
  • To be able to speak about your hobbies
  • To be able to make a restaurant booking, read the menu
  • To be able to ask for and to give directions
  • To be able to talk about the subject(s) you are studying
  • To be able to talk about your past
  • To be able to make an appointment over the telephone

System requirements
  • Raven access is required
  • Further information regarding Raven is available
Charging
  • Students: £170 to be paid online (select 'Concessionary').
  • Staff including Colleges and UCLES* staff: £185 to be paid online (select 'Full'). (* provided they are eligible to/can obtain a Raven password)
  • Links to the online store will be provided with your confirmation email.
  • Payment is required within 24 hours of your booking to secure your place.
  • Refunds available after the first lesson only.
  • It is the student's duty to plan ahead and make sure they can cope with their study workload.
