We are now in our third year of the Access and Participation Plan's commitment to eliminating the awarding gaps that impact disabled students with declared mental health conditions, and Black undergraduate students, where they are less likely to be awarded a First Class degree than their peers. This online seminar is the third in a three-part series that has been designed to support staff in investigating, understanding and addressing the awarding gaps in their courses, Departments or Colleges. PLEASE NOTE: The plan for this seminar has been amended so that it is now a forum for representatives from a range of units and contexts to discuss their work on awarding gaps and to take stock of progress of the University to eliminate the targeted gaps. Participants will include people from the Cambridge Center for Teaching and Learning (CCTL; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion unit (EDI); Cambridge Admissions Office (CAO) and the Disability Resource Centre (DRC). We also welcome Faculty, Department and College staff willing to discuss and share examples of their own work investigating the reasons for awarding gaps, or in supporting staff and students. The outcomes of the session will be a clearer understanding of the range of initiatives underway thus far within the University and the across the higher education sector, as well as the development of a communication and dissemination strategy to ensure that Cambridge staff are better supported with information and resources relevant to their own teaching or professional practices. Please contact Dr Ruth Walker (CCTL) or Gina Warren (E&D) if you have any questions about the seminars or related resources. This session will be held via Teams |
