Physics Health & Safety: First aid - Basic Life Support

Description

A short course on basic first aid. NOTE: This course does not qualify you as a first aider.

Target audience

'This course is for University of Cambridge Department of Physics staff and students who are likely to work in laboratories and workshops out of normal working hours. It is not for fully qualified first aiders.

Objectives

By the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  • Undertake effective CPR (cardio-pulmonary rescuscitation)
  • Use a defibrillator (AED)
  • Undertake primary and secondary surveys
  • Follow the process for summoning the emergency services
Aims

To provide participants with the basic skills to perform CPR and keep the casualty stable until medical help arrives.
