Checking in with undergraduate supervisors: a follow up session to An introduction to undergraduate supervision (essay and problem-sheet based subjects) Prerequisites
Do you have further questions following your recent supervising experiences? Do you have ideas or experiences that you’d like to share with others? This interactive session is for anyone who attended the workshop ‘An Introduction to Undergraduate Supervision’ and who has started supervising. This 90-minute session aims to follow up with new undergraduate supervisors on their teaching experiences and to answer any questions they might have.
The session will include:
- Q&A about supervisory experience
- Sharing of examples of supervisory practice
- Small-group discussions with peers on teaching experiences
Attendees of any ‘An introduction to undergraduate supervision (problem-sheet based subjects)’ workshop during Michaelmas 2023 or anyone who attended this workshop during the academic year 2022-23 and has begun supervising. Please do not register for this workshop if you have not started supervising undergraduates.
- We ask all attendees to fill out a questionnaire related to their experiences of supervising undergraduates. This will be available upon registration for this session and must be completed by all participants.
- The questionnaire should take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete and can be found in the 'joining instructions' in your confirmation booking email.

This session aims to:
- provide new undergraduate supervisors with the opportunity to ask further questions about undergraduate supervision
- allow new supervisors to share practice and learn from each other's experiences
- give new supervisors a forum to identify what further support, if any, would be valuable for them
