Description


This introductory workshop will examine the processes of preparing and giving lectures. It will encourage you to consider what makes a good lecture and what lecturing is for.

*Please note that this course is not aimed at PhD students*

Aims
  • To have an increased understanding of the process of preparation and presentation, including structuring and writing a lecture
  • To understand how to gauge the appropriate level for a lecture
  • To be familiar with support materials including handouts, overheads and PowerPoint, and how these can enhance a lecture
  • To give consideration to the delivery of a lecture including pace, voice projection, body language and breaking up a lecture
  • To be aware of alternative strategies for effective lecturing
