All-provider course timetable

This is a one-day specialised CAA approved training course aimed at those departments shipping biological materials by air (IATA). It will use the 2020 IATA Regulations and will cover the full classification, packaging, labelling and documentation required to ship the following goods:

• Infectious Substances (Category A)
• Biological substances (Category B) (e.g. samples, vaccines, bloods, etc)
• Exempted goods – (e.g. cell lines, DNA)
• Genetically Modified Organisms

It will also cover the requirements for the supplementary materials encountered, such as dry-ice, dry-shippers and samples that are in small amounts of potentially flammable, or toxic, preservative fluids.

Successful candidates will receive a training certificate valid for two years, restricted only to the materials described above.

For completeness, transport by road and rail etc will also be covered.

This course will enable the participants to practice existing spreadsheet skills and develop more advanced skills within the context of UFS data. There will be the opportunity to extract data from the system and learn to manipulate, analyse and use it for reporting purposes. The course runs over two sessions and participants will need to attend both of these sessions.

This webinar is aimed at all ESRC DTP cohorts. The information and advice will be focused around managing your studentship in relation to time planning, managing your health, and understanding how your ESRC funding works. In particular, UKRI research councils are limited in their flexibility around extensions and it is important that all DTP PhD researchers are aware of these limitations but also know about the other resources they can potentially utilise at Cambridge to help them through the three years of their doctorate.

We encourage everyone to attend. In addition, anyone who has health difficulties should come along to understand how this could impact on their PhD timeline and how planning at an early stage could be helpful.

A course to take you through conference poster design, with tips and resources to help with the content and presentation in order to ensure you communicate your research effectively. The course will cover where to source good quality, free graphics, how to include references in your poster, and advice about how best to present it at a conference. The session will NOT involve hands-on creation of a poster.

It provides techniques to support colleagues, managers and Heads of Institution to build confidence to address inappropriate behaviour and other difficult situations at the earliest stage possible maximising the potential for early and sustained resolution of any potential conflict.

The session will have interactive elements, including considering a case study and potential options for resolving with the best possible outcomes for all.

This course is suitable for students who have studied or picked up Spanish at basic level and who want to revise and progress onto intermediate topics and language and to discover Hispanic culture. The main focus is learning through communication and interaction. We will get together from home with Zoom, which offers us many possibilities to watch videos, listen to audio, read texts, write (there is even a whiteboard!) and especially speak in small and large groups. ¡Te esperamos!
