This is the fourth module of the CCNA series, should you wish to book on the series please book on Module 1 Introduction to Networks. This course discusses the WAN technologies and network services required by converged applications in a complex network. The course enables you to understand the selection criteria of network devices and WAN technologies to meet network requirements. You will learn how to configure and troubleshoot network devices and resolve common issues with data link protocols. You also develop the knowledge and skills needed to implement IPSec and virtual private network (VPN) operations in a complex network |

Investigating Accidents

Could you be asked to investigate an accident that happened in your department? Would you know how to go about it? And, having determined the causes, minimise the chances of it happening again? Anyone who may be asked to investigate an accident is welcome, but it is particularly relevant to those who supervise and manage others and Departmental Safety Officers. Video, case studies and discussion will be used to clarify why accidents and incidents should be investigated and how to tackle an investigation. We will look beyond the immediate causes of accidents to root causes. |
Research Data Management

Come over to our introductory workshop to research data management and learn how not to get lost in our own research data (and how not to lose your data!). The workshop will cover the following aspects of research data management: • Data storage and backup; • Data organisation; • Strategies for file exchange with collaborators; • Sharing research data; • How to create data management plans. The workshop is open to all students and postdocs, and refreshments will be provided. About the trainer: The course trainer is managing the Research Data Services in Cambridge (http://www.data.cam.ac.uk/open-data-team) and was a PhD student in life sciences at the Gurdon Institute at the University of Cambridge. |

The Advanced Conversation Hours provide a relaxed weekly session, focusing on the type of language used in discussions and debates. They are suitable for learners comfortable in spoken interaction at level C1 upwards. Typical session topics include news events or social/political/cultural issues. The groups thrive on diversity and everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and opinions at the same time as learning techniques for getting their ideas across, becoming clearer and more verbally precise. Part two of the Presentation Skills workshop is about practice, coaching and feedback in a small group setting. Preparation for next week: Please prepare a presentation, of no more than three minutes, on an area of your research, suitable for the mixed audience you will be presenting to. Do not use PowerPoint. We challenge you to really embrace your natural presentation style and stretch that style to try out new ways to develop that style to make real impact. Look forward to seeing you again next week. |

With support, explore some helpful reading strategies and the choices you can make in how you approach your text. BRING: A TYPICAL TEXT IN YOUR TARGET LANGUAGE THAT YOU NEED TO READ. Users of radioactive substances who are new to the University should also attend. This course also acts as a refresher for experienced users and for users from other institutions or countries.
