Word 365: Beginners (In Person Face to Face)

Description

This course is to help you get to grips with word processing basics using Microsoft Word. It will be taught in a small group and no previous knowledge is assumed.

  • This is the In Person Face to Face version of the Live Online classroom based instructor led course.

Prerequisites
  • Basic computer skills i.e. familiarity with using a keyboard and mouse will be assumed.
  • The course is aimed at beginners - no previous knowledge or experience of the software is assumed.

  • Learn the basic features of Word
  • Create a new document
  • Use a range of font formatting techniques
  • Format paragraphs
  • Work effectively with features that affect the page layout of your document
  • Inserting images
Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Get Started with Word
    • Open Microsoft Word and create a new blank document.
    • Navigate the Word interface and identify key tools on the ribbon.
  • Format Text and Paragraphs
    • Apply basic font formatting techniques such as bold, italics, underline, font size, and colour.
    • Format paragraphs using alignment, line spacing, and indentation tools.
  • Control Page Layout
    • Adjust page layout settings including margins, orientation, and page size.
    • Use layout features to improve the structure and readability of a document.
  • Insert and Manage Images
    • Insert images into a document and adjust their size and position.
    • Apply basic image formatting such as alignment, text wrapping, and borders.
  • Apply Best Practices
    • Save and name documents appropriately.

Notes
  • The course will be taught using Word 365 on PCs but will also be suitable for Word 2016/2019 users. Apple Mac users of Outlook should also find it useful.

What we expect from participants

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time to avoid disruptions.
  • Participants are expected to actively engage with the lesson and the trainer and there will be activities to do.
  • PC’s are provided in our training rooms but if you wish to bring and use your own laptop you can do.
  • Feel free to ask questions at any time.
