Description

This course introduces University of Cambridge staff to the core concepts of cyber security, shows how these can affect them in their everyday working life, and provides guidance on how to stay safe online and avoid current cyber security attacks when working at the office or remotely.

The course is hosted on the MyCompliance e-learning platform.

Objectives

In detail, the course

  • explains what cyber security means, describes the most common forms of cyber-attack and their impact on organisations and employees, and shows how staff can avoid cyber-attacks.
  • aims to raise awareness of everyday cyber security threats such as password compromise, tailgating and malicious links, and explains how to deal with them.
  • highlights the importance of maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the University’s information assets and other sensitive data, and explains the consequences of failing to protect important information.
  • describes best practices when using personal devices, including multi-factor authentication, encryption, and running regular updates of operating and antivirus systems.
  • encourages staff to regularly update their knowledge on new cybers threats, and always follow the University’s guidance, policy and procedures.
