IT Community: Development Workshop Finished 10:30 - 11:30 Old Schools, Council Room

This is a short workshop aimed at IT Professionals across the Collegiate University, to update colleagues on the progress of the IT Community Development project. There will be an update on the launch of our refreshed secondment, shadowing and mentoring schemes. We will also share a draft set of role profiles for IT Professionals and seek feedback on them, whilst also showing you how they can help IT staff to further develop their own career path. We will also provide an update on the work to develop the IT Portal, and a demonstration of the Skills Database. Please sign up for one session.

The aim of this talk is to introduce UIS plans to manage the University-wide Active Directory - Blue with Active Directory Management System (ADMS) which would receive all updates to the AD and provide more detailed access controls than is possible with the native Active Directory tools.

IT Community: Mentoring Workshop new Finished 10:00 - 12:30 University Information Services, Roger Needham Building, Norwich Room

The mentoring workshop is for everyone who has registered to be a mentor or mentee with the IT Community Development scheme, regardless of whether you have been matched or not.

The workshop is expected to last about 2.5 hours and will cover the following:

  • The purpose of the scheme
  • What mentoring is (and isn't)
  • What's in it for the mentor and the mentee
  • Some mentoring techniques - eg coaching, active listening, open questions
  • Protocols.

Refreshments will be provided.
