The Next Generation of IP Register at Cambridge

This seminar kicks off the consultation on the future of DDI (DNS, DHCP and IP address management) at the University of Cambridge.

You'll learn how these services currently work, and how they are managed. Then we'll describe the challenges we're facing with the current systems, and some of the opportunities we have to make improvements. Finally, we'll introduce our proposal for future development of these services.

The Aspiring Managers Programme provides a structured pathway for colleagues preparing for their first supervisory/line management roles. It fosters the development of crucial skills, including effective feedback, handling challenging conversations, and utilizing leadership styles. The programme incorporates facilitators' input; opportunities for discussion, case studies, reflection, and sharing good practice with others moving into similar roles. It also includes curated e-learning resources to support colleagues' ongoing learning and development.

Participants are required to attend both half-day sessions.

A Business Briefing to talk about the roadmap for the Raven authentication service and related IAM plans, including:

  • transition of the current Raven service (i.e. WebAuth) into Raven as the umbrella brand for the next generation University authentication service that now includes SAML2 (Shibboleth), OAuth2 and, in future, ADFS.
  • plans for retiring the current Raven WebAuth Service (which will become known as the "Raven Legacy Service")
  • an update on the implementation plan for introducing two-step verification and the rationale behind selecting the chosen solution.

In collaboration with stakeholders around UIS, the Service Management Office has produced a new IT Incident Management process. This event is an introduction to the new process with time for questions and feedback.

UIS facilitates a mentoring scheme exclusively for the University's IT community and UIS' internal staff.

Mentoring can be a handy tool in supporting colleagues to develop their professional lives and careers, in both roles as a mentor and mentee.

This is a welcome event (Unit 3) and part of the UIS' Mentoring learning journey, for all mentees and mentors enrolled in the 20223-24 programme. This interactive workshop is designed to give an overview and introduction to mentoring, practice some essential skills needed for mentors and mentees, mistakes to avoid, and become familiar with some simple models and tools to support the mentoring partnership and maximise its value and impact.

UIS is offering members of the IT community the chance to join a virtual speed mentoring event. This energetic learning and networking activity will provide the opportunity to speak to some of UIS’ senior leaders and managers from different disciplines.
