This day-long session introduces how IT works in the University of Cambridge, its idiosyncrasies and governance, what is expected of an IT professional working within the collegiate university and what resources are available for them. It covers IT specific material and does not duplicate the PPD Introductory Conference. The programme for the day is:

- 10:00-10:20 The structure of the University — Ian Lewis (Director, Computing Service)
- 10:20-10:50 IT within the University — UCS Institution Strategy
- 10:50-11:20 Coffee
- 11:20-12:00 The user — Ruth Charles (User Administration Manager, Computing Service)
- 12:00-12:40 The network — Jon Holgate (Head of Network Division, Computing Service)
- 12:40-14:00 Lunch — representatives from various service groups will be milling around to talk to
- 14:00-14:40 Your responsibilities — Ashley Culver (Network Support Manager and CamCERT lead, Computing Service)
- 14:40-15:20 University-wide systems — Andy Richardson (Operations Manager, Management Information Services Division)
