Understanding Yourself and Others: Using MBTI
"The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) questionnaire is part of the most widely used personality instrument, worldwide. More than 3.5m questionnaires are completed every year and there are over 13,000 qualified users in Europe. It is based on over 50 years’ research and development and is available in 19 languages.
The MBTI instrument describes an individual’s personality preferences, which it represents in four dimensions.
The various combinations of these preferences result in 16 ‘personality types’. Each is associated with a unique set of behavioural characteristics and values and provides a useful starting point for individual feedback, self-exploration and group discussions.
Through completion of the questionnaire (‘reported type’) and a personal feedback session (including ‘self-assessed type’ an individual’s unique personal type, with associated characteristics, will be revealed. This will show the individual how they interact with others and how they deal with a range of real-life situations.
Subsequent applications include team roles and development, education and career counselling, management and leadership development, coping with organisational change, dealing with stress and understanding emotional intelligence."
