Professional Services Development Programme Level 2

Description


This Professional Services Development Programme Level 2 (previously the Administrator Development Programme, ADP), for generalist and specialist administrators draws on the expertise of senior figures in the University and provides up to date information on the various strands and issues of University strategy and governance. The programme includes some key skills development, a group project, and offers a valuable opportunity to network with professional service colleagues from the UAS and other departments and institutions.

  • You need to meet the selection criteria for the programme and complete an application form for the programme.
  • Applications will require approval by your line manager and will then be reviewed and prioritised by School Secretary, Head of Division and Head of Institution, Registrary as appropriate.

  • Applications typically open in May each year.
Target audience
  • University staff in a Professional Services role.
  • Grade 7 to 9 (there may be some flexibility on a case-by-case basis).
  • Have passed probation or expect to do so before the programme starts.
  • Undertaking the programme for own development and for the benefit of the division or department or institution.
  • Have agreement from department or division to engage with the programme.
  • Can commit to attend all dates and undertake all additional activities, including pre, during and post-course work.
  • This includes fully contributing to a group project, including compilation of a project report and delivery of a short presentation with the group.

Aims

By the end of the programme participants will have:

  • increased knowledge of current issues and developments within the University, and HE as a whole
  • considered the various arms of University activity and identified strategic issues in each case
  • further developed a range of skills in leadership, delivering presentations and managing meetings
  • planned and delivered a project which allows them to work with others, gather information about new areas and enhance their learning from the programme
